GÉANT and NORDUnet have formed a key collaboration over several decades, greatly advancing Europe’s research and education infrastructure.

This collaboration has delivered powerful connection solutions and services, allowing for seamless academic and research activities across borders.

The European Commission has supported this collaborative European R&E network through e-infrastructure projects under the Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development, notably Horizon EUROPE.

These initiatives, generally known as GÉANT projects, help to evolve the GÉANT network and develop key technologies and services.

NORDUnet Conferences, take place every second year in September. 

The Nordic NRENs take turns in hosting the conference.

An Identity federation is basically one of the key elements in making sure you can have joint procurements.

Then you can have cloud services, you can share services between each other much more easily. That we were very early in this has helped us a great deal. And all the services that NORDUnet are offering their trust and identity has always been incorporated. We built Kalmar 2, and Kalmar 2 was something that was an early pilot version of what later into some extent was the basis for Edgigame. Both Sweden and Norway had leading positions in the creation and in the building blocks, which was something that all countries today are using."
